Dwarf Key Lime
Well known for its namesake pie, the Key Lime is a hybrid citrus that bears cute little greenish-yellow golfball sized fruits. Easy to grow indoors, the tree can begin bearing fruit in as little as two years. Key limes are high in vitamin C (providing as much as 20% of your daily requirement for this nutrient) and are an essential ingredient in sweet and tart desserts, cocktails, and marinades. Growing a tree of your own ensures that you always have key limes on hand when you need them!
Sometimes called Mexican lime or Bartender lime, key lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) is a compact species of tropical tree grown for its tart, edible fruit and aromatic foliage in a dense, rounded canopy of evergreen leaves.
Container-grown key limes can reach s height of 8-10 feet. They begin bearing between 2 and 6 years.
Glossy, oval leaves growing on spiny stems are typically accompanied by white, star-shaped flowers. Those flowers are followed by 2-3 in (5-7.5 cm) round, green limes.
Like other citrus trees, key limes are drought tolerant. Allow the surface of the soil to dry out between watering. It’s time to water when you can insert your finger into the soil up to the first knuckle before you feel moisture. They can be watered deeply about once a week (until water drains out of the drain hole), more often in dry conditions.
Seedlings will be between 6 - 9 inches tall when shipped.
