The Bitter Orange tree (Carizzo Citrange) is a hardy citrus variety that bears small sour orange fruits and aromatic green leaves. The fruits are valued for their use in preserves and have medicinal benefits as well. The tree itself is commonly used as rootstock for grafting.
Bitter Orange is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, immune boosting, and high in antioxidant content. The fragrant yellowish-white flowers are used in soaps, perfumes, and essential oils (Bitter Orange is the source for pettigrain essential oil). Bitter Orange has strong resistance to disease and pests, and can withstand temperatures below freezing for short periods. It’s also self-pollinating, which means that only one tree is needed in order to produce fruit. The seedlings will be between 13 and 18 inches tall when shipped or picked up.[Images are shown for representational and reference purposes only.
